The Poneglyphs are one of the most important elements to the overall narrative of One Piece, which is becoming increasingly apparent as the series draws closer to its conclusion. They are also among of the most enigmatic artifacts in the One Piece universe, since it has been established that only a single living individual is capable of genuinely reading the Poneglyphs.
The number of characters who can read the Poneglyphs has increased since this one individual was proved to be able to do so, but the list is still quite short. This is just conjecture at this point, but it is possible that certain characters who have not yet been presented will be able to read the Poneglyph language.
As a consequence of this, the following is a list of the four One Piece characters who are able to read the Poneglyphs.
5 – CLOVER
Archeology was one of Professor Clover’s primary areas of expertise, and he served as both the head of the Ohara Library and a major authority in the field. He held the position of professor and scholar in the institution known as the Tree of Knowledge, where he and his fellow employees researched poneglyphs.
Professor Clover, a learned man from Ohara, with the ability to decipher the Poneglyphs and was aware of the precise locations of the ancient weaponry. According to what Clover said, prior to the establishment of the planet Government, the entire planet was governed by a Great Kingdom. However, they were eradicated by a force that would later evolve into the World Government. However, before Clover could give the identity, he was shot and fatally wounded. This prevented him from doing so. After then, the Buster Call was activated, and Marine ships immediately launched their assault on Ohara.
Even Silvers Rayleigh remarked on how knowledgeable Clover was because of his high level of notoriety.
4 – NICO OLVIA
Nico Robin’s mother was an archaeologist and went by the name Nico Olvia.
Olvia, a wise woman from Ohara, was able to decipher the Poneglyphs, making her one of the few people who had the capacity to learn the truth about the Void Century and the precise locations of the ancient weapons. She had an extensive grasp of history due to her profession as an archaeologist.
3 – KOZUKI ODEN
Momonosuke’s father, Kozuki Oden, held the position of daimyo in the region of Kuri in Wano Country. Twenty years ago, before he was killed by Kurozumi Orochi, he presided over the Kozuki Family as patriarch until his death.
As a member of the Kozuki Family and a descendant of the Kozuki Family, Oden inherited the knowledge and skill to read Poneglyphs and write its ancient language from his ancestors. Oden was the last member of his family to possess this skill, as he was unable to teach it to his son before he was killed by the Beast Pirates. In addition to that, he possessed the capacity to listen to the “Voice of All Things.”
2 – GOL D. ROGER
Gol D. Roger was a mythical pirate who was referred to as the Pirate King. He was also the captain of the Roger Pirates and the owner of the legendary treasure that was referred to as “One Piece.”
In addition to this, Roger had the ability to decipher the meaning of the characters that were inscribed in the Poneglyphs and to write in the same language. However, because he was not an Ohara scholar like those who utilized their brains to study the Poneglyphs, he was unable to “read” the Poneglyphs in the traditional sense. Rayleigh asserted that the reason Roger was able to decipher the Poneglyphs was because he has the capacity to “hear the voice of all things.”
1 – NICO ROBIN
As a child, Robin was able to read Poneglyphs, which revealed information of the Void Century, and as a result, he was awarded a reward consisting of 79,000,000 Berries. Her capacity to decipher the Poneglyphs is by far the most hazardous trait she possesses, which is one of the reasons why the World Government views her as such a significant threat.
According to the current development of the plot, Nico Robin is the only living person who understands the language that is inscribed on the poneglyph tablets.
